The Burden of the Bag
LIsten in Bangla
One day, a wise teacher entered the classroom with a large backpack filled with books. Without saying a word, he placed the bag on his shoulders and stood before his students.
"How heavy do you think this bag is?" he asked.
"Maybe 5 pounds!" guessed one student.
"10 pounds!" said another.
The teacher nodded but did not confirm the weight. Instead, he asked, "What would happen if I carried this bag for a few minutes?"
"Nothing much," replied a student.
"And if I carried it for an hour?" the teacher asked.
"Your shoulders would start to ache," said another.
"Good. Now, what if I carried it all day long?"
"You’d be exhausted! Your muscles would be in pain, and you might even struggle to move properly," a student answered.
The teacher smiled. "Exactly. But did the weight of the bag change at any point?"
"No," replied the class in unison.
"So what caused the pain?" he asked.
"The longer you hold it, the heavier it feels," said a student thoughtfully.
The teacher nodded. "This bag is like the worries and stress we carry in our minds. If you think about a problem for a short time, it’s manageable. But if you dwell on it too long, it starts to drain you. Carry it all day, and it overwhelms you completely."
"So, what should I do?" he asked, looking around.
"Put the bag down!" a student shouted.
"Exactly!" the teacher said with a smile. "Life’s burdens work the same way. You must learn to put them down. At the end of each day, let go of your worries and rest. That way, you wake up refreshed, ready to take on new challenges with a clear mind."
He took off the backpack and placed it on the table.
"Remember," he said, "No matter how heavy your burdens seem, they only weigh you down if you refuse to set them aside. Learn to put the bag down!"
